About me.

I'm Lucas Sproule, a contractor who builds and rescues Ruby on Rails applications. Rails is where I do my best work: it lets one experienced engineer own a product end to end — the data model, the Hotwire frontend, the background jobs, and the deploy pipeline that puts it in front of users.

What makes me unusual among Rails contractors is where I came from. I spent years as a site-reliability engineer at Deloitte and Blue Apron, keeping large production systems alive — AWS (Solutions Architect certified), Kubernetes, Terraform, observability, on-call. That means the apps I build come with real deploys, monitoring, and backups from day one, and when something misbehaves in production I've usually seen it before.

Beyond the terminal, I'm an avid traveler and lifelong learner. I speak Spanish and find that connecting with new places and people shapes how I work with clients — clearly, directly, and with genuine curiosity about the problem behind the ticket.
